Reasons to stay longer

Honest tiers: samplers bolt onto the festival weekend; the Roing buffer is a single extra day before the climb; expeditions like Seven Lakes, the Dri Valley trek and Athu Popu run 7–11 days with guides, fitness requirements, permits and cultural protocols — they are journeys in their own right, and Athu Popu is a sacred route, not a sightseeing add-on.
The people
The Idu Mishmi
The indigenous people of Dibang Valley — one of India's smallest, most distinctive tribal communities. For centuries Idu lived only in speech and memory; a Roman script for the language was formally adopted in 2017, and its speakers' knowledge of this forest remains unparalleled. The festival is built with the community's involvement and blessing, and a portion of every pass goes directly to local development.

Ask our teamYes. Every visitor from outside Arunachal Pradesh needs an ILP with 'Dibang Valley' explicitly mentioned on it — it is checked at multiple posts. Apply online via the Arunachal eILP portal (15–30 minutes), or let Travelspire arrange it: permit assistance is included with every shared transfer and package we run. Foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit (PAP) instead.
